2024

Lauren, Casey, and Jared travel to New Zealand (Aotearoa) for Extreme Solar Systems V!  Lauren and Casey give talks; Jared presents a poster.  Alex Thomas advances to PhD candidacy!  Lauren and Matthew travel to Toronto for the Division of Dynamical Astronomy Meeting in Toronto, Canada and Exoplanets 5 in Leiden, the Netherlands.  Casey defends her thesis, becoming Dr. Casey Brinkman, PhD.

2023

We ring in the New Year by conducting observations at the Keck telescope on the Big Island of Hawai`i.  David Shaw participates remotely in the American Astronomical Society winter meeting, where he wins the Chambliss Award for an outstanding poster by a graduate student.  The group continues to grow, with graduate student Jared Kolecki and undergraduate Matthew Doty joining in spring 2023.  University of California, Los Angeles undergraduate Carlos Jurado does a summer REU.  Lauren travels to Kyoto, Japan, to present a review chapter at the Protostars and Planets VII conference.  Matthias wins second place in the University of Notre Dame's Postdoc Lighting Talk series.  The Astroweiss group does a road trip to IU Bloomington for the annual Great Lakes Exoplanet Area Meeting.

David Shaw wins AAS Chambliss Award

Jan. 2023 -- David Shaw wins the Chambliss Award, the American Astronomical Society's Prize for an outstanding poster by a graduate student, at the January 2023 meeting.  Pictured: David giving a talk on the same project at The Ohio State University, Fall 2022.


2022

The Astroweiss group at Notre Dame grows!  Undergraduate Andrew (Drew) Langford joins the group in Fall 2021, with graduate students Coleman (Alex) Thomas and David Shaw joining in spring 2022.  Postdoctoral Scholar Dr. Matthias He joins the group in summer 2022.  Yale undergraduate Aaron Householder participates in group research as part of the National Science Foundation's Research Experience for Undergraduates.

2021

Lauren leaves Hawai`i to start a faculty position at the University of Notre Dame, but keeps her Hawai`i-based research group, composed of students Jingwen Zhang and Casey Brinkman and co-advisor Dan Huber, intact.
